Under the leadership of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Ilham Aliyev, the Azerbaijani Army has achieved incredible successes in its victorious march that began on September 27, 2020, in order to prevent Armenia’s successive provocations and new occupation plans and liberate our occupied lands.

As a result of 44 days of military operations, the brave Azerbaijani Army liberated from occupation more than 300 settlements, including the cities of Jabrayil, Fuzuli, Zangilan, Gubadli, the settlements of Minjivan, Aghband, Bartaz in Zangilan district, Hadrut settlement and many villages in Khojavand district, Sugovushan village in Tartar district, several villages in Khojaly and Lachin districts, as well as important strategic heights in the Aghdara, Murovdag and Zangilan directions.

On November 8, after 28 years of longing, the city of Shusha, which is of great importance and symbolic meaning for the Azerbaijani people, was liberated from occupation. The liberation of the city of Shusha, the crown of Karabakh, was a unique military operation that will go down in world military history.

Azerbaijan’s military victories, especially the liberation of Shusha from enemy occupation, played a decisive role in the fate of the war. All this resulted in Armenia’s admission of defeat and capitulation.

By the Decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev dated December 3, 2020, it was decided to solemnly celebrate November 8 every year as Victory Day in the Republic of Azerbaijan in order to perpetuate this unparalleled victory, which became a celebration of the power and national pride of our people and is of exceptional importance for the prestige and future development of our state.
